Herndon resident Gerry Frank Burde, 41, is in custody after the Fairfax County Police Department received a tip from the community about his inappropriate communications with an underage victim through the Internet.
Police say that earlier this month, thy were tipped off about Burde's activity, and he was later located in Tysons Corner, where he planned to meet and potentially engage in sexual activity with his victim.
Burde was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with use of communications systems to solicit a minor, attempted forcible intercourse with a victim under 13 years old, and indecent liberties with a child under 15.
Detectives believe Burde may have targeted other victims through direct contact or on platforms such as Snapchat (username: drunkslovepunch) or Whisper (username: Tempo_Ex).
Anyone who may have interacted with Burde online has been asked to contact detectives by calling (703) 246-7800 and choosing option 6.
